We discovered we had these caterpillas on on the hedge on our side fence when my wife brushed against one. The painful result was still very obvious hours later when she showed me the culprit. His reward was to become famous here 8-)

For such an amazing caterpilla form, the moths they turn into are the most boring, drab brown.
