Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae

Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae (Silver Gull)

IUCN Status: Not Assessed.

Silver gulls are "dirt" common in Australia. They're everywhere and they are bold and brazen. So it was a surprise when I found out that they are only found in Australia. I had supposed that since they are so prolific, common and wide spread here, across so many habitats and climates, that I assumed they would be elsewhere also.

Nature can surprise us ins so many ways. It certainly is a constant challenge to separate assumption from fact.
