Coming to the end of a week staying in Cradle Mountain I still didn’t have the shot that I had hoped for. I really wanted a star field with the Milky Way in the background and the mountain in the foreground. However the weather conspired against me. In fact storms, rain and constant low cloud cover made the physical and light conditions trying for the photography.
Persistence is perhaps the greatest asset a photographer can have. It’s persistence that will keep you trying new things until the shot works. Persistence will see you walking, sitting and waiting for hours for a subject to appear. It’s persistence that will keep you coming back again and again until you find the subject in the right pose in good light… be it animal or mountain range.
Cradle Mountain is a fantastic place. It’s one of a handful of places that reverberate.
Expect more images next summer. Weather permitting: star field over Cradle.
