Orthetrum Villosovittatum

Orthetrum Villosovittatum

Orthetrum Villosovittatum (Fiery Skimmer)

IUCN Status: Not Assessed.

There were dozones of hanging around the Chinese section of the botanic gardens. Often shooting dragonflies is a matter of patience, because they will get used to you being there, and return to favorite perches. However when they are around is such large numbers, they are constantly invloved in territory disputes, either chasing off or being chased off.

Orthetrum Villosovittatum has a large range: from northern VIC up into PNG, and are common. Don't tell them that: they're a bit sensative.
