Synthemis tasmanica (Tasmanian Swamp Tigertail) IUCN Status: Not Assessed
This species is endemic (restricted to) Tasmania. It inhabits boggy areas or areas with "trickles" running through them. I found a heap of them hanging around the puddles formed across tracks and in ruts near a "trickle" up at great lake. I've seen them before at the Upper Natone nature reserve, but did get useful pictures on that occasion.
Photographing this species is a real challenge. They are very skittish and typically land in cluttered places making getting clear, pleasing image... problematic. I hung out in the puddles for around two and a half hours trying to get an image I was happy with.
