Chrysosoma leucopogon

Chrysosoma leucopogon (Large Green Long-Legged Fly)

IUCN Status: Not Assessed

There are thousands of species amongst the “long-legged flies”. These are tiny flies: up to 6mm long, are the biggest species of this family in QLD. This one is common around on the Queensland coast, often found in yards etc. That’s exactly where I found this one, in our yard near the pond. It was one of many, but the only one that was chilled enough for me to get close and shoot.
