Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis

Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis

Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis (Common Wombat)

IUCN Status: Least Concern.

This species is actually made up by three sub-species. There is one on the mainland, one on some of the islands in bass straight (endangered) and this one in Tasmania.

Perhaps the easiest spot to view this species is at Narawntapu national park. If you hang out to dusk and walk around on the grass plains, you will inevitably see them, though they aren't that hard to see elsewhere where there are large grass plains.
