Petaurus breviceps (Sugar Glider) IUCN Status: Least Concern If there were a contest for cutest Australian animal surely sugar gliders would be a finalist. These are relatively common, yet hard to get a good look at. Typically staying high in trees, it’s far more likely you will hear their yippy barks, or perhaps glimpse them jumping from tree to tree. Opportunities to photograph them in a setting where they are accessible and confiding are extremely rare outside captive animals.
This is one of the three or more wild animals, which have been habituated to humans at Chambers Wildlife Lodges. For eight nights I had the opportunity to watch them into deep night elegantly gliding between the trees, enthralled and grateful.
