Vermicella annulata (Bandy Bandy)
These guys have a wide distribution over Eastern Australia, live mostly underground (coming to the surface only rarely) and feed on other snakes. So they're not just stunning lookers, they're super interesting too.
We saw this one in North QLD, but apparently they're most common around Mount Glorious. More night driving needed when I'm back in Brisbane.
I remeber seeing one of these dead on the road at East Kurrajong as a kid and being struck be the vivid markings, and full of wonder. Now I'm just bigger.. 8-)
