Diomedea epomophora (Southern Royal Albatross)

IUCN Status: Vulnerable

Southern royal compete with wandering for the title of largest albatross species, with up to three meter wing span. They can weigh up to nine kilograms. Having one of these massive birds fly past at just over an arms length is one of my most breathtaking life experiences.
