Larus pacificus georgii (Pacific Gull) IUCN Status: Least Concern Pacific Gulls are endemic to Australia, common from roughly Sydney NSW south and then around to Exmouth in WA. In some of their southern distribution they have come into competition with
kelp gull (Larus dominicanus) which self-introduced into the south of Australian in the 1940s.
Typically Pacific gulls are found is individuals or small groups, often mingled with the much more common
silver gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae). They are known to fly at height with molluscs, dropping them onto rocks to break their shells.
