Falco cenchroides (Nankeen Kestrel)

This burst of shots cost me a mobile phone… and I love it.

I’d been stalking this bird for a while and he’d let me get close, to a point, then fly on to another perch. On the last iteration he flew over a little up lift in the rock face and perched about ten meters from it. I got down load and approached from the other side of the ridge sliding along the rocks till I was under a small bush with a clear line of sight to this amazing animal. I spent some time basking in the encounter and shoot a few images off before he flew off for the last time.

Then I checked my phone to see how I was going for time. My phone was in my front pants pocket... the pocket that had been sliding over the rocks with my weight on it. It wasn’t happy (or working). I would absolutely do it again.
